Lutz offers an amazing selection of cakes, tarts, tortes, cookies and chocolates all created using traditional European recipes that have been in the Lutz family for centuries. Staying true to it’s Konditorei distinction, Lutz pastries are made from the highest quality ingredients without preservatives to create unique flavors that are light and delicate. From seasonal specialties like Christ-Stollen and Baumkuchen to whimsical hand-made marzipan treats, the variety is endless.
Lutz is a Chicago tradition. Just mentioning the name elicits stories and memories from childhoods passed. The strawberry whipped cream cake that your grandparents brought to your house every Sunday or the marzipan birthday plaque that was the sweet special treat for one lucky child. The wedding cake that was as beautiful as it was delicious… everyone has a story to share about Lutz.
Walk deeper in to the store and find our quaint café where classical music plays and light lunch fare is served on table dressed with table cloths and china. You can relax here with a pastry and a pot of our custom blended coffee served Viennese style with a decorative dollop of whipped cream“schlag” on the side. Our menu boasts several homemade specialties like goulash, crepes and quiches. A variety of sandwiches, soups and salads are available daily. Free WI-FI available. B.Y.O.B.
